Former UNI quarterback Kurt Warner is finally getting his life made into a movie. It will be called American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story and will be written by the same person who wrote Friday Night Lights. The movie is being fast tracked and is expected to be released in December by Lionsgate. The timeframe of the release may mean no big stars will be cast in the movie. The Cedar Rapids native took a circuitous route to the NFL with stops in the Arena Football League with the Iowa Barnstormers, NFL Europe, and stocking shelves at HyVee before being signed by the St Louis Rams as backup to fellow Cedar Rapidian Trent Green. Warner would go on to win two NFL MVP awards, a Super Bowl MVP, and be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
