KWWL, Allegedly, Losing All Meteorologists

The KWWL meteorologists have reportedly lost their jobs due to a decision by the TV station’s parent company. Allen Media Group has announced a plan to fire the meteorologists at their TV news stations in 21 markets across the country in favor of content from The Weather Channel in Atlanta. That includes KWWL. Josh Franson confirmed on Twitter that he and his coworkers were impacted. Allen Media Group says that severe weather will remain a priority and the new format will improve reporting capabilities, especially in high-stakes weather situations. They also claim the move will allow them to be more accurate, timely, and engaging. Some of the local meteorologists will be offered the opportunity to move to Atlanta and be a part of team at The Weather Channel. It is unclear if that is the case for any of the KWWL meteorologists.
