A crash in Cedar Rapids has claimed the life of a LaPorte City man and sent two LaPorte City women to the hospital, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 29 year old Charles Yochem was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer when he attempted to exit off of Interstate 380 onto US Highway 30. Yochem lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to avoid another vehicle as he merged. That sent the Trailblazer rolling, ejecting Yochem and his passenger, 49 year old Deanna Fugate. Both Yochem and Fugate were taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Yochem died from his injuries while Fugate remains with serious injuries. Another passenger, 18 year old Jasmine Keister, was taken to St Luke’s Hospital with minor injuries and released.
