A loaded gun was confiscated at a school in Waterloo on Wednesday morning according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The handgun was found in a backpack at George Washington Carver Academy. The backpack belonged to a 14 year old girl. She told investigators that she had planned to run away and packed her brother’s gun and marijuana as well as some clothes in her backpack. Police say there is no indication that the girl planned to use the weapon and no threats were ever made. She was detained by police for carrying weapons on school grounds.
