A former Waverly and Clarksville man has been sentenced to prison time for burying a backpack full of drugs in a ditch, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 22 year old Jacob Wordes was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance. He was a regular opioid user in May of 2023 when his dealer became concerned with a recent arrest among his own sources and asked Wordes to hide several locked bags of drugs. Wordes broke the locks and sold some of the drugs. During a search of Wordes’ home on August 7th he agreed to lead law enforcement to where he had buried a backpack full of drugs outside Clarksville. Once the bag was uncovered, law enforcement found more than 1,000 fentanyl pills, more than 150 methamphetamine pills, more than 350 pills with meth and cocaine, and 150 grams of fentanyl powder.
