Local Newspaper Saved

The Butler County Tribune-Journal and Clarksville Star have been saved by Nelson Media Company out of Saint Ansgar. Mid-America Publishing Corporation out of Hampton decided to fold the newspaper printing portion of their business and while it looked early on that the Tribune-Journal and Star would be purchased early on, that deal fell through and it appeared that the newspapers that had served the Clarksville area for nearly 200 years would end its run. Nelson Media has stepped in to purchase the Winnebago County Tribune, the Parkersburg Eclipse and the Butler County Tribune-Journal and Clarksville Star. Nelson Media plans to merge the Parkersburg Eclipse and Butler County Tribune-Journal and Clarksville Star to create a unified, county-wide newspaper that they say will ensure all communities within the county will receive the same coverage. Nelson Media began as a video company but has purchased 11 newspapers, 10 in Iowa, since 2022.
