Local Therapist Not Alowed to Counsel While Awaiting Trial

A Waterloo therapist with ties to Waverly who is accused of touching a teenage client will not be allowed to hold counseling sessions while he awaits trial, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 64 year old Scott Harrison was charged with Sexual Exploitation by a Therapist and Lascivious Conduct with a Minor in September. He posted a $2,000 bond and was released pending trial. As part of his release he was forbidden from counseling. His lawyers said that because it was his full time job and he had already agreed to not counsel minors and all sessions would be done through video conferencing, this condition was unduly restrictive and would be a financial hardship for his family. The judge disagreed. Harrison allegedly touched a 14 year old girl’s stomach, buttocks, and breast during a session at his Cedar Falls office. The girl was able to push his hands away and notify her mother who was waiting outside in a vehicle.
