A Waterloo man could spend the next four decades in prison for sexually abusing a girl, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 41 year old Chad Staton was sentenced on Monday to consecutive prison terms of 25, 10, and five years. He will have to serve 17 years and six months before becoming eligible for parole. Staton will have to register as a sex offender for life and must complete sex offender treatment. Staton had sexual contact with the girl in 2013 in Waterloo. The investigation into the incident was started by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office before being handed over to Waterloo Police in January of 2020.
