Lowell Opening Delayed

The opening of the new Lowell Elementary in Waterloo has been delayed, according to KWWL. The new building is currently under construction and was originally set to be finished in August 2021, in time for the new school year. However, the completion date has now been pushed back to December 2021, meaning students will now make the move in the middle of the year. The original school was demolished after the roof caved in during a snow storm in February of 2019. Lowell students have been attending class in the Central Rivers AEA building since then and will begin the year there again next year. The new school is expected to incorporate several things from the old school and will support 450 students.
