Eastern Iowa native Maddie Poppe is moving on to the next round of American Idol, following her performance Monday night. That means the Clarksville native will be in the top 24 contestants on the show. Sunday night on the show, Poppe performed a song she wrote called “Don’t Ever Let Your Children Grow Up.” It was part of her solo performances for Hollywood Week. The show announced the top 50 contestants Sunday night, and that group was whittled down to 24 based on Hollywood Week performances. Judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie Monday night selected the 24 with artists one-on-one.
