A Waterloo man has been arrested for allegedly injuring his eight week old son on multiple occasions, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The baby’s mother brought him into Allen Hospital on November 4th after noticing him bleeding from the mouth. Doctors found hemorrhages in both eyes, deep scratches near his ear and a broken forearm. The baby was transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Staff there also found a healing rib fracture that was about 10 days old and a broken toe that they believed occurred from forceful pulling. The mother told staff she had seen the baby’s father, 24 year old Devin Toler, push down on the child’s eyelids because he was not concentrating during feeding. Toler admitted he forced the baby’s arms down before swaddling him like a straightjacket. Toler was charged with Child Endangerment Multiple Acts and Child Endangerment Causing Serious Injury. His bond was set at $100,000.
