A former Dunkerton man has been arrested after a dead dog and a dead cat were found in his bedroom, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 26 year old Johnathan Macomber, now of Ionia, was arrested on Sunday and charged with two counts each of Animal Neglect and Animal Neglect with Death. Deputies were called to Macomber’s home in Dunkerton on December 29th after neighbors reported not seeing anyone at the house in a week and were worried about the animals. When the deputies arrived they found an emaciated dog before entering the home. When they went inside they found conditions to be unlivable due to the amount of animal feces. Deputies say there was no food or water available for the pets. They located a dead cat and a dead dog in the master bedroom. The emaciated dog was taken to the Cedar Bend Humane Society.
