The following is from the Cedar Falls Police:
On 4/21/2025 at approximately 20:01, Cedar Falls Police attempted to make a traffic stop near the area of Grove Street and University Avenue. The driver of a silver 2003 Volkswagen Jetta was known to have active arrest warrants out of Black Hawk County.
The driver of the vehicle was 40-year-old, Benjamin William Kreimeyer, 921 State Street, Cedar Falls. He led officers on a chase through Cedar Falls, off the roadway into a field, before jumping out of the out of the car and running from officers. When Kreimeyer finally stopped running, he displayed a knife. He was taken into custody in the area of Pine and 7th Streets in Janesville. No one was injured in the incident.
At this time, Kreimeyer has been charged with:
- (3) Warrants
- Eluding
- Reckless Driving
- Interference w/ Official Acts While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon
- Multiple Traffic Violations
Cedar Falls Police were assisted by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and Janesville Police. Black Hawk County Dispatch, Waverly Ambulance Service and Janesville EMS also assisted.
