A Waterloo man has been arrested after allegedly being found driving a stolen vehicle in Hawkeye. A Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to pull over a Nissan Sentra in Hawkeye on Thursday. The driver, later identified as 21 year old Ashton Swanson, allegedly refused to pull over and led the deputy on a short pursuit before eventually crashing the vehicle. He was taken into custody and charged with Operating a Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent, Felony Eluding, Driving While License Suspended, Reckless Driving, Failure to Wear a Seatbelt, multiple stop sign infractions, speeding infractions, and Failure to Maintain Control. Swanson sustained injuries that were described as minor in the accident. He is being held in the Fayette County Jail. The incident remains under investigation.
