Waterloo Police have arrested a man who lit a tissue on fire in an apartment hallway on Saturday afternoon, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police say 70 year old Alfredo Saulog lit a tissue on fire shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and then used that to light his cigarette in the hallway of the apartment building at 3411 Kingswood Place. When Saulog’s roommate told him to extinguish the burning tissue, Saulog allegedly dropped it on the hallway carpet and refused to put it out. The fire was later put out but not before around $300 worth of damage had been done. While police were arresting Saulog they allegedly found marijuana in his pocket. He has been charged with Reckless Use of Fire, fifth degree Criminal Mischief, and Possession of Marijuana.
