Man Broke Into Wrong Home with Machete

A Waterloo man was arrested after breaking into the wrong house with a machete, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police say Victor Escobar Garcia was intending to kill his uncle, who he believed had robbed him, when he broke into home. Escobar allegedly wrote his uncle’s name on the screen door window in blood before kicking in the door. The home was not the home of his uncle, however. The homeowner challenged Escobar and, despite receiving minor injuries, was able to convince him to leave. Escobar was detained a short time later during a traffic stop, covered in blood. He was taken to a hospital mental health unit for observation. On Wednesday he was charged with first degree Burglary. His bond has been set at $50,000.
