Man Burned a Bible

A Waterloo man was arrested last week after allegedly burning a Bible from a little free library, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police were called at around 6:15pm last Wednesday about a fire next to the little free library on Sheridan Drive. Police found 31 year old Zachary Flippo not far away. He allegedly had soot covered hands and was carrying two lighters. Police had warned Flippo about disrupting traffic about an hour prior in another part of the city. He was charged with Reckless Use of Fire and Disorderly Conduct and released pending trial. The library belongs to Irene Shriver and sits in front of her home. She and her daughter were on a walk at the time of the fire but returned to find the charred remains of the Bible. She says she is saddened by the event but remains undeterred and will continue to stock the library to share her love of reading. Someone has replaced the Bible.
