A Waterloo man has been caught up in a child sex sting for the second time, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 70 year old Dirk Moos was allegedly talking online with a someone he believed to be an underage girl. The two exchanged pictures and made plans to meet. Moos actually was talking with members of a civilian organization that investigates people who target children online. The group alerted Waterloo Police who found two images of pre-pubescent girls engaged in sex acts on Moos’ phone. He was charged with two counts of Depiction of a Minor in a Sex Act. In 2019 Moos was caught in a similar situation with the Minnesota based Predator Hunters USA. In that case Moos thought he was talking with a 15 year old girl. Police were contacted but no charges were filed. Warnings have been issued regarding those civilian groups, saying they often hurt possible prosecution of sex offenders.
