Man Caught Pursuing Children Online

A Waterloo man has been arrested after he was allegedly caught in a sting operation on Snapchat, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 42 year old Zachary McBride is accused of sending a friend request to who he thought was a 13 year old girl, it actually was a deputy from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. The two exchanged messages, allegedly including a picture of McBride naked, but with his genitals covered. McBride allegedly asked the would be 13 year old if they could shower together and if she could wash his body. When the account asked McBride where he worked, he immediately blocked the account. The deputy used social media pictures and inmate pictures from a previous public intoxication charge to match tattoos and piercings to identify McBride. During a search of his home, police were able to match furniture to the naked picture McBride sent. He has been charged with felony Grooming charges. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
