Man Convicted for Racist Fliers

The Hampton man accused of placing racist flyers at the Cedar Falls Library has been convicted, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 38 year old Daniel Embree failed to show up to a pretrial conference on December 19th. A clause in his arraignment allowed the court to rule in his case in the event he missed court. Embree was found guilty of misdemeanor third degree Harassment. He was fined $300 plus a $45 surcharge and $60 in court costs. Embree has requested a new court date because he had a swollen knee on the date of the pretrial conference. He pled guilty to charges of Trespassing as a Hate Crime and Criminal Mischief for placing the same flyers at Latino owned businesses and homes in Hampton in August. He will be sentenced in that case in January.
