A Waterloo man has been convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an Uber driver, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Jurors found 40 year old Darion Halliburton guilty of second degree Sexual Abuse and third degree Kidnapping. ON February 10th Halliburton ordered an Uber to his home on Dawson Street. When the female driver arrived, Halliburton threatened her with a handgun and forced her into his house where he sexually abused her for more than three hours before letting her leave. DNA on the woman matched that of Halliburton and police recovered bloody sheets and the victim’s missing sock and underwear in Halliburton’s home. Following the incident Halliburton stopped going to work and left the area. He remained at large until March. He faces up to 35 years in prison when he is sentenced at a later date. Had he been convicted of first degree Kidnapping he would have faced a mandatory life sentence.
