A Waterloo man has been found guilty of killing another man, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 22 year old Raymond Birden Jr. shot Shavondes Martin nine times with two guns in an alley nearly three years ago. Birden believed Martin was among those who killed his brother Otavious Brown in 2016. Martin had been acquitted in that case. After the verdict was read a family member collapsed in the hallway of the Black Hawk County courthouse. Birden faces a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole. A woman who drove Martin to the area on that fateful day was also arrested for her role and has pleaded to lesser charges. A heavy police presence oversaw proceedings with Sheriff’s Deputies and Policemen lining the hallways and overseeing the parking lot to keep the peace.
