A Waterloo man was arrested Tuesday after holding a woman and several children hostage, according to KWWL. Police were called to the 700 block of Kern Street around 8:30 yesterday morning. When they arrived on scene they found 40 year old Robert Smull barricaded inside with the woman and children. After several hours of negotiation the woman and children were able to escape through a window. Smull then surrendered and was arrested. He has been charged with First Degree Domestic Assault, Fourth Degree Criminal Mischief, and a Probation Violation.
