Man in Fatal Crash Had Been Indicted Recently

The man who died after hitting a concrete bridge support near New Hampton on Monday had been indicted in a scheme to swindle hog farmers just days earlier. 70 year old Steven Demaray was a former manager for Lynch Livestock. A federal grand jury indicted him and a former Lynch bookkeeper on two counts of Mail Fraud on November 4th. Demaray, who was known as “Shooter,” had pleaded not guilty. He was the only person in the vehicle that struck the overpass support pier on Highway 63. No official reason has been given for why he left the roadway.
