Man Rammed Deputy’s Car with Kids Unbuckled

A Waterloo man was arrested after ramming a Black Hawk County Deputy’s vehicle with two unrestrained children in his back seat, including a three year old, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Deputies and Evansdale Police received a tip that 24 year old Patrick Cannon Jr., who was wanted for an unrelated chase in June, was at the Casey’s on River Forest Road. When an Evansdale police officer approached Cannon he got into his 1997 Buick LeSabre and crashed into the deputy’s car. He nearly hit another car in traffic before arriving at a mobile home. Cannon was later spotted on the flood control dike as he attempted to elude law enforcement, however he was taken into custody. In the original chase in June, Cannon allegedly was traveling at 90mph in a 45mph zone with an unrestrained two year old in the back seat. He faces numerous charges including Assault on a Peace Officer, second degree Criminal Mischief, Eluding, Interference, Reckless Driving, and two counts of Child Endangerment.
