One man was rescued from the Cedar River Monday afternoon, near Cattle Congress after the boat he was in capsized. According to Waterloo Fire Rescue two men were in a boat that began taking on water, eventually causing the boat to capsize. One of the men made it to shore, the other stayed in the water with the boat. Crews launched a boat and rescued the second man and recovered the boat. One of the men was taken to Allen Hospital.
Troy Luck, the Battalion Chief for the Waterloo Fire Department discloses one of the biggest challenges during water rescues:
Chief Luck recommends all boaters be up-to-date with Iowa boating law as the weather eventually warms up before going out on the water.
