A Waterloo man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after soliciting nudes from children he met online, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 29 year old Steven Acklin, formerly of Charles City, was convicted of Sexual Exploitation of Children and Receipt of Child Pornography. Acklin met a woman who said she was the mother of a 12 year old girl on Kik in the Fall of 2023. Acklin asked the woman for naked photos of her daughter. The woman turned out to be an undercover police officer. Between January and September of 2024, Acklin met numerous children online and enticed them to send him photos and videos of themselves engaging in sexual conduct. Investigators also found other child porn on his phone, some including infants and sadistic and masochistic conduct. In addition to the 30 year sentence, Acklin will be on supervised release for 10 years.
