A Waterloo man has been sentenced for stabbing his friend in the leg and stealing his phone, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 29 year old Suad Kvakic and his friend Sean Gordon, of Charles City, were sitting in a car at the Kwik Star on College Street in Cedar Falls at around 2am on June 4th. Kvakic saw something on Gordon’s phone that upset him so he swiped the phone. In the tussle that ensued Kvakic stabbed Gordon in the leg. Kvakic then drove the car to an apartment where he got out. Gordon then drove to the Iowa State Patrol post looking for help but that was unsuccessful, so he drove to the Casey’s on Main Street where employees were able to call 911. Emergency responders had to use a tourniquet to get the bleeding to stop while transporting Gordon to the hospital. Kvakic was originally charged with first degree Robbery and Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury but took a plea deal to first degree Theft. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison but that sentence was suspended to three years of probation.
