A man who was caught trying to meet a teenager for sex in Waterloo while out on bond from a similar incident in Iowa City has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The sentence is in regard to the Iowa City incident. In that case 47 year old Gabriel Usher showed up at Mercer Park in Iowa City to meet a 15 year old girl he thought he had been communicating with on Facebook. The person he was actually talking to was an undercover law enforcement officer. A review of his phone at that time showed another online conversation Usher was having with a woman about setting up a meeting for him to have sex with her 9 year old child. While on bond in that case he moved to Waterloo to live with relatives. While living in Waterloo he began talking to a who he thought was a 12 year old Evansdale girl. It was not a 12 year old Evansdale girl, however, it was actually members of the vigilante group Predator Poachers Southeast Texas. They posted their encounter with Usher when he showed up at an apartment complex to meet the girl on YouTube. He was sentenced to five years in prison in that case. The 14 year federal sentence will run consecutively to the Waterloo case sentence.
