The man who brought a ghost gun to a football game between Waterloo East and Waterloo West last year has been sentenced to prison time, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. On August 25th of last year police were called to a fight near the entrance of Memorial Stadium. During the scuffle someone told police that Dayton Bruce, who was not involved in the fight, had a ghost gun. Bruce ran from police when they approached. He stopped once police threatened to use a Taser on him. Police found the gun and later determined it had been used in at least six shootings in the city. Bruce was not supposed to be at the game after being banned from East sporting events after he spit on the East emblem during an East West basketball game. He returned to another basketball game after that and got into a fight. His defense argued that after high school he fell in with a bad crowd and started smoking marijuana. As part of a plea deal, the now 20 year old Bruce pleaded guilty to Being a Drug User in Possession of a Firearm and was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison.
