The Waterloo man who was killed after shooting two police officers on Sunday has now been identified, according to KWWL. Waterloo Police were called to the 200 block of Manson Street around 8:20am on a report of a man with a gun on a bicycle. That man has been identified as 35 year old Kelvin Plain, Jr. Police say Plain fled from them on foot through Sullivan Park. Officers fired a Taser at Plain, causing him to hit the ground. He then fired his gun at the officers, hitting two of them. They returned fire, killing Plain. The officers were taken to the hospital for surgery and care of their injuries. Both are expected to survive. This is not the first time Plain has injured police officers. In 2014 he rammed a car into a patrol vehicle. Two officers were injured and taken to the hospital. Plain was charged with Assault on a Peace Officer in that case.
