Cedar Falls mayor Rob Green has announced on his Facebook page that he will not seek re-election. He says he will turn the Mayor’s office over to his successor in January of 2024. Green says that while being mayor is fascinating and immensely rewarding, he wants to spend more time with his family, especially his children, his daughter will be a senior and his son will be entering high school. He also affirmed that once he and his wife are empty nesters he will again run for Mayor. In the interim Green intends on returning to his old job of being an information architect and college instructor. He also will begin work on a doctorate. He finished his letter by saying that Cedar Falls is the best town he has ever experienced.
