Waverly Mayor Mark Anderson has announced that he will not seek re-election. Anderson says his daughter and her husband are expecting a baby this Fall and he and his wife plan to move out of Waverly to be closer to their grandbaby. Anderson goes on to say that this decision was not an easy one to make as serving as mayor has been one of the greatest honors of his life. He finishes his statement by saying he is making the announcement now as this is when campaigns begin and he wants to encourage anyone considering a run to start the process now. Anderson was elected mayor in 2023 in a landslide.
