An Elgin woman has been charged with murder after her baby daughter died. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says they arrested 28 year old Alicia Rios of Elgin on Friday. She has been charged with first degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Rios home on August 21 on a report of a 5 week old not breathing. The baby, Lydia Rios, was taken to American Children’s Family Hospital at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison. According to investigators Lydia died on August 26 due to her injuries. Alicia Rios originally claimed Lydia’s older sister dropped a toy on her head, but authorities say she later admitted to throwing the baby. Alicia Rios is being held in the Fayette County Jail.
