A Cedar Falls man accused of allowing 800 pigs to die has now been charged with Bank Fraud, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 38 year old Nolan Dewall was the general manager of an agricultural cooperative that hit hard times while also being the co-owner of a trucking company. The bank that the co-op was working with was reluctant to extend additional credit and so Dewall allegedly embarked on a check kiting scheme between bank accounts to falsely inflate bank account values. The truck company ended up $240,000 in the hole and was forced to sell its assets and close down. Dewall is also facing a misdemeanor charge of Livestock Neglect after 800 pigs in his care died of dehydration and malnutrition. He has pleaded not guilty to that charge.
