A special election was held Tuesday to fill a Waverly City Council seat from Ward Two. 269 votes were cast in the election, with the winner needing at least 136 to avoid a runoff. Julie Meyers fulfilled that requirement, receiving 164 votes or 61% of the total votes. John A. Baber followed in a distant second place with 33.1% of the vote and Mike Hangartner received 5.6% of the vote. There was also one write in vote.
