An update in the case of a mother and child who died in a house fire in Waterloo last month. Investigators along with a canine team discovered the presence of accelerants at the scene. Those accelerants were determined to be involved in the fire that killed Ashley Smith and her son Jaykwon Sallis at 536 Dawson Avenue. No arrests have been made to this point and the investigation into the fire is still ongoing.
