The former Director of the Jesse Cosby Neighborhood Center in Waterloo has pleaded guilty to stealing money from the center, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Jesse Henderson, who is the great nephew of the center’s namesake, pleaded guilty to one count of Wire Fraud. Henderson took more than $71,000, some of which was used to feed his gambling habit. Some of the ATM withdrawals were made at casinos and Henderson admitted that he took advantage of an increase in funding. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The Jesse Cosby Neighborhood Center provides meal programs and services for seniors and youths and has stayed open since Henderson’s arrest.
