Waterloo has named a new Police Chief after former Chief, Joe Leibold, retired last week, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Rob Duncan, who was born and raised in Waterloo, will take over the top spot. The move will need to be approved by the City Council at their next meeting on July 1st. Duncan started with the Waterloo Police Department in 1997 and was promoted to Captain in 2021. He has an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Gateway Community College and was named Waterloo Police Officer of the Year in 2004.
