New Hartford Woman Hit a Train

A New Hartford woman was injured Monday after her foot slipped off the brake while she waited for a train. 72 year old Betty Heideman was waiting at the Vail Avenue railroad crossing near New Hartford as a train rolled by. Her foot accidentally slipped from the brake pedal, causing the vehicle to roll forward and strike the train. The vehicle bounced off the train and landed in the west ditch. Heideman was taken to MercyOne Hospital in Waterloo for treatment of her injuries. She was using her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
