Governor Kim Reynolds updated the COVID-19 numbers at 11:00 Tuesday. Iowa has 508 new cases of which 98% came in the 22 counties with elongated closures. Iowa has a total of 6,376 cases according to the state, though their numbers don’t include 405 that Black Hawk County alone has announced. 2,169 Iowans have recovered from the virus. 9 more Iowans have died and 7 of those people lived in a long term care facility. The governor announced that 7 more long term care facilities have outbreaks.
Governor Reynolds said a Test Iowa mobile testing site will be open Wednesday at Crossroads Mall in Waterloo. Visit testiowa.com to see if you are eligible to be tested.
The area COVID-19 figures have been updated. Bremer County has 3 new cases for a total of 48 and 3 deaths. Butler County still has 8 cases, Chickasaw County now has 4 and Fayette County moved up to 17 total cases. The Black Hawk County numbers from the State are 941 total with 12 deaths, however the Black Hawk County Health Department counts 1,346 total cases. The 405 difference in total cases is due to how much slower the Iowa Department of Public Health releases those numbers in comparison to the Black Hawk County Health Department. The county’s numbers are more accurate at the time of its release.
