The Waterloo Community School District will be holding a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new unified high school campus on Thursday. The event will take place at the future site of the high school, on the campus of the current Central Middle School, at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The new school will unite East and West High Schools and will house grades 10 through 12. The former high schools will still be utilized to house 8th and 9th graders. Bunger, Carver, and Hoover Middle Schools will serve 6th and 7th graders. The new high school is scheduled to open for the 2028-29 school year. At the event on Thursday district leaders, local officials, students, and community partners will speak and attendees will learn more about the design, timeline, and vision for the project.
