A Waterloo nurse who filled in for another nurse has been arrested for allegedly stealing medication from a patient, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 57 year old Lisa Freeland made a home visit to a patient on Ellington Street in December while filling in for another nurse. Then, on December 20th, she returned to the home while the patient was asleep. A relative notified police after seeing security footage of the event. Freeland can be seen tiptoeing past the kitchen and then coming back into view with a handful of pills, which she allegedly put in her coat pocket. She then trips over a living room chair as she leaves the home. Freeland’s employer confirmed she was not scheduled to be there at that time. A review of the patient’s medication found that 30 Oxycodone pills were missing. Freeland has been charged with second degree Burglary and Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug. She was released pending trial.
