Waterloo Police and the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Department were able to talk a man off the Mullan Avenue Bridge Thursday night, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The man had threatened to jump from the bridge to the Cedar River below. The bridge was closed to traffic for more than an hour as the situation was ongoing. Firefighters had a boat in the river and other rescue equipment ready as a safety measure. The man eventually climbed down and was taken to a hospital for an evaluation.
