Owner of Popular Pizza Place in Medical Coma

The owner of Doughy Joey’s Peetza Joynt in Waterloo is in the hospital after an incident at an Airbnb in Ankeny. 38 year old Andrew Howe apparently fell down the stairs early Monday morning. He was taken to the hospital where he had emergency surgery for a brain injury. Surgeons removed a portion of Howe’s skull to relieve pressure on his brain due to swelling. He is currently in a medically induced coma. A GoFundMe has been set up to help Howe and his girlfriend, Alison Blake, pay for medical bills, restaurant bills, and house bills. It had an initial goal of $10,000 but as of Thursday morning had raised nearly $26,000, in fact the top donation came from a user named Brendan Blumer for $10,000.
