The Perkins Restaurant and Bakery on University Avenue in Waterloo has closed its doors for good, according to KWWL. Perkins has not announced why the University location was closed but the company as a whole has been having financial troubles for some time. They announced last year that they would be closing a number of locations and filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. They also annonced they would divest from the remaining Perkins locations to Huddle House, Inc. Some Perkins locations are franchise locations, such as the one on Hammond Avenue. That restaurant will stay open.
