Waterloo Schools have announced several personnel changes for next year. They say the changes have been brought on, in part, by what they call “budgetary challenges”. Josh Payton, who is currently the principal at George Washington Carver Academy, will become the Director of Secondary Education. He will replace Josh Johnson, who has accepted the position of Superintendent at Roland-Story. Dan Huff, who is currently the Director of Athletics and Activities, wil become the Assistant Principal at Central Middle School. The Director of Athletics and Activities position will be eliminated. Dr. Charletta Sudduth is currently the district’s Pre-K Administrator. She will become the Associate Director of Human Resources. She was set to become the director of Diversity, Equity, and Belonging but that position was eliminated after recent legislative changes. The Pre-K Administrator position will be eliminated. The budgetary challenges the school district referenced including COVID-19 funds running out, alleged insufficient state funding, and inflation.
