Plainfield Man Arrested After High Speed Chase Near Janesville

A Plainfield man who had failed to return to a halfway house was arrested after a high speed chase near Janesville, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 30 year old Andrew Engler had checked out of the Waterloo Residential Facility, where he was serving time for drug offenses, to go to the pharmacy on January 17th. Engler, however, failed to return to the facility. On Wednesday a Janesville officer spotted him driving a Nissan Maxima on Maple Street shortly before 7:00 p.m. The officer attempted to pull him over but he refused and a chase reaching speeds of 100 mph ensued into Butler County. Engler’s vehicle was eventually forced off the road by law enforcement, at which point he was taken into custody. Inside the vehicle police found a backpack with a hypodermic needle, a spoon with residue and several plastic bags. Engler has been charged with felony eluding and possession of methamphetamine. His bond was set at $10,000.
