Plainfield Man’s Sentence Upheld

The Iowa Court of Appeals has upheld a sentence for a Plainfield man who had sex with two 14 year old girls on separate occasions in separate states, according to KWWL. Jaymes Goodsell pleaded guilty to third degree Sexual Abuse in 2017 when a 14 year old girl he had sex with ended up pregnant. Goodsell was 19 at the time. He was granted a deferred judgment and probation. Only a month later he traveled to Minnesota to have sex with another 14 year old girl who he said was his girlfriend, which violated his probation. Minnesota officials charged him with Kidnapping and Soliciting a Child to Engage in Sexual Conduct. He was released from prison in Minnesota in 2021 and sent back to Iowa to face punishment for his probation violations. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and lifetime parole. He appealed that decision, however the Appeals Court found him to be accurately identified as being at a high risk to re-offend.
