The City of Cedar Falls will be conducting planned burns at several locations this week. Wednesday they will be burning at the North Cedar Natural Resource area along Longview Street. They also will be burning at the University of Northern Iowa wetland along Hudson Road between the student parking lot and Pointe West Apartments, as well as the Pheasant Ridge Golf Course prairie area along the 12th Street Trail and the corner prairie near Pheasant Drive and Kaspend Place. Weather conditions could alter these planned burns. In the event of inclement weather, the City will move the burn date and issue an update. Planned burns are used to control invasive plant species and restore and maintain native plant communities that will benefit wildlife and promote sustainable ecosystem services.
